City Branding

Lisbon is Portugal's capital and Europe's second-oldest capital. A city that has been influenced by many different far-off cultures over time, there is still a village feel in each historic neighbourhood. Despite modernization, Lisbon in many ways retains the air of a 19th-century city.

For my last university project and based on the research I made about Lisbon, I had to develop a brand system for the city. And these are some of the pieces I came up with.
  • Deliverables
  • Logo Design & Identity
  • Editorial
  • Brand System
  • Iconography
  • UI/UX
  • Motion

First off, the logo

The logo is composed by four elements that -I consider- are key for Lisbon. The shield shape was inspired by the city flag design. The castles are still well-preserved and are actually one of the main attractions in Lisbon. The water waves represent the Tejo river, the largest river that extends all through the Iberian coast. And finally, the sardine, which became a symbol for the city; whether it is gastronomy or decorative stuff, you can find the sardine everywhere in Lisbon.

The colour palette was inspired by Lisbon's bright colors.
